{"id":1032,"date":"2013-05-03T03:10:50","date_gmt":"2013-05-03T03:10:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/suretyone.com\/blog\/?p=1032"},"modified":"2017-06-19T17:41:22","modified_gmt":"2017-06-19T17:41:22","slug":"hawaii-private-detective-agency-bond","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/suretyone.com\/blog\/hawaii-private-detective-agency-bond\/","title":{"rendered":"Hawaii Private Detective Agency Bond"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A <strong>Hawaii private detective agency bond\u00a0<\/strong>is required from each private detective, security guard or detective agency on the island before a license will be issued. \u00a0Hawaii code defines a &#8220;private detective&#8221; as a person licensed under <a title=\"HI PI statutes\" href=\"http:\/\/hawaii.gov\/dcca\/pvl\/pvl\/hrs\/hrs_pvl_463.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chapter 463 HRS<\/a>, a who for compensation obtains information and evidence not readily or publicly accessible with reference to any of the following matters: (1) Crime or wrong done or threatened or assumed to have been done or threatened against the government of the United States of America, or any of its states, territories, or possessions; (2) The identity, habits, conduct, movements, whereabouts, affiliations, associations, transactions, reputation, or character of any person, association, organization, society, or groups ofpersons, firms, or corporations; (3) The credibility of witnesses or other persons; (4) The whereabouts of missing persons; (5) The location, disposition, or recovery of lost or stolen property; (6) The causes and origin of, or responsibility for, fires, accidents, damage, injuries, or losses to persons, firms, associations, or corporations, or to real or personal property; (7) The affiliation, connection, or relation of any person, firm, or corporation with any organization, society, association, or with any official member or representative thereof; (8) The conduct, honesty, efficiency, loyalty, or activities of employees, agents, contractors, and subcontractors; or (9) The securing of evidence to be used before any investigating committee, board of award, board of arbitration, or in any civil or criminal trial. \u00a0The <strong>Hawaii private detective bond<\/strong>\u00a0must be written by a surety or sureties licensed by the state insurance commissioner and must include a provision that the bonding agent will notify the <a title=\"HI PI Board\" href=\"http:\/\/hawaii.gov\/dcca\/pvl\/boards\/private\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Board of Private Detectives and Guards<\/a>\u00a0in writing at least thirty days prior to any termination of the bond. Termination of the <strong>Hawaii private detective agency bond\u00a0<\/strong>causes immediate suspension of the license, which stays suspended until a replacement bond is filed. \u00a0 Failure to obtain a new surety bond within the current biennium results in automatic forfeiture of the license at the end of the same biennium. \u00a0Essentially, the private detective will have to go through the licensing and approval process again.
