{"id":1121,"date":"2013-05-16T04:02:59","date_gmt":"2013-05-16T04:02:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/suretyone.com\/blog\/?p=1121"},"modified":"2017-01-03T16:20:34","modified_gmt":"2017-01-03T16:20:34","slug":"north-dakota-motor-fuel-tax-bond","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/suretyone.com\/blog\/north-dakota-motor-fuel-tax-bond\/","title":{"rendered":"North Dakota Motor Fuel Tax Bond"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All companies that negotiate motor fuels must post a <strong><a title=\"Surety One\" href=\"https:\/\/suretyone.com\" target=\"_blank\">North Dakota motor fuel tax bond<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and comply with the statutory duties required for such distributors. \u00a0Excluding pipeline activity, those that import into the state,\u00a0make bulk deliveries, and are retailers located on a reservation subject to a Tribal Motor Fuel Agreement must ALL provide a <strong>North Dakota motor fuel tax bond\u00a0<\/strong>and obtain a motor fuel license. \u00a0The definition also include\u00a0refiners, terminal operators, suppliers, importers, exporters, distributors, and special fuel retailers. \u00a0The licensee&#8217;s responsibilities are outlined in\u00a0North Dakota Century Code chs. <a title=\"ND motor fuel tax laws\" href=\"http:\/\/www.legis.nd.gov\/cencode\/t57c43-1.pdf?20130515224830\" target=\"_blank\">57-43.1, 57-43.2 and 57-43.3<\/a>. \u00a0The licensee is responsible to the North Dakota Tax Commissioner for compliance with these provisions. \u00a0The <strong><a title=\"ND Fuel tax bond form\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nd.gov\/tax\/fuel\/forms\/tax-bond.pdf?20130515224349\" target=\"_blank\">North Dakota motor fuel tax bond<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>must be written in an amount sufficient to cover the estimated tax liabilities for a three month period, however the bond cannot be less than $1,000 for motor vehicle fuel, $1,000 for special fuel, $500 for liquefied petroleum gas, and $500 for aviation fuel. A surety bond is not required for a person applying only for an \u201cexporter\u201d license.
