The Rule establishes the general requirements for agents including training, necessary software for reporting, inventory control, and support of the Bureau&#8217;s auditing function. The license allows the registration agent to process and issue registration credentials for most motor vehicles and long term trailers.<\/p>\n<p>The surety bond required by the Bureau must be issued on the state approved form and written in the amount of twenty five thousand dollars ($25,000). The obligation guarantees the registration agent&#8217;s compliance with the terms and conditions of the registration agreement and payment of registration-related fees and taxes. The <strong>registration agent surety bond<\/strong> contains a cancellation provision. If surety cancels the bond another must be procured so that there is no gap in surety bond coverage.\u00a0Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Dealer and Agent Services is the contact for licensing.
