The North Carolina Manufactured Home Dealer and Salesperson Surety Bond is a licensing requirement imposed by the North Carolina Manufactured Housing Board, a division of the State Fire Marshall. It serves as a financial guarantee that licensed dealers and salespeople will comply with Article 9A of Chapter 143 of the North Carolina General Statutes and the regulations that govern the sale and warranty of manufactured homes. This surety bond protects consumers from financial harm due to fraudulent acts, misrepresentation, contract violations, or failure to meet warranty obligations by a licensed dealer or their employees. For a dealer who has one place of business, the amount is thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000). For a dealer who has more than one place of business, the statute requires twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) for each additional location.
You are required to provide this bond if you:
Both individual dealers and salespeople must file a surety bond to be licensed and to remain in good standing with the North Carolina Manufactured Housing Board.
