An Oklahoma public adjuster bond is required from both resident and non-resident insurance adjusters operating in the state. The statutes authorize licensing of public and emergency/catastrophe adjusters. It is important to understand the difference as the surety bond requirements may not apply to the emergency licensee if sponsored by a current licensee. Pursuant to Oklahoma Statutes 36 O.S. 6201 the public adjuster bond must guarantee specific obligations.
The Oklahoma public adjuster bond must be written in the amount of twenty five thousand dollars ($25,000), be issued and countersigned by and insurance company and producer licensed to do business in the state and in favor of the people of the State of Oklahoma. Along with the public adjuster bond an applicant for certain license categories is required to offer other documents. If applying for a multi-peril crop adjuster license the applicant must attach a copy of his or her CAPP card and if apprentice license, a completed copy of the AT-1 application. The Commissioner of Insurance can process initial licenses. Thereafter renewals may be accomplished through the NIPR. Questions may be directed to the Commerce Department at:
