Per the Oregon Landscape Contractors Board, "two licenses are required to do landscaping work. An applicant may apply for an individual landscape construction professional license and the landscape contracting business license simultaneously. Each landscape contracting business must employ at least one individual landscape construction professional to supervise the activities of the business and directly supervise all unlicensed employees that are performing landscape on behalf of the business. The business may offer and/or perform those classes of work for which the business's employed landscape construction professionals are licensed.
The Oregon landscape contractor bond is for the sole purpose of ensuring payment of determination orders of the Board in accordance with Oregon general statutes 671.690 through 671.710. Based on project size, the requirements are:
There are apprenticeship requirements associated with this type of license. If the applicant is UNABLE to qualify to sit for a license examination. The Board may issue him or her a "probationary license". There are unique Oregon landscape contractor bond requirements for probationary licensees. A probationary business will be required to carry a $15,000 surety bond and is only allowed to perform landscape projects that do not exceed $15,000. He or she may alternatively work as an employee of a licensed landscape contracting business under the direct supervision of a non-probationary licensed construction professional.
