Bond Penalty: $5,000

A Texas polygraph examiner bond is required by the Polygraph Examiners Committee of the Department of Licensing and Regulation as part of an operator's request for a license. The privilege allows a licensee to conduct tests of subjects using lie detectors, polygraphs, and deceptographs only. Per the Committee's Chairman, "The Polygraph Advisory Committee reviewed scientific evidence and the feedback it received in March at the Texas Polygraph Summit before concluding that neither voice stress analysis nor computerized voice stress analysis are scientifically valid to detect truth or deception. As a result our Committee strongly urges TDLR not add any form of voice stress analysis to those instruments authorized for use by polygraph examiners to detect truth or deception in the Lone Star State."

The polygraph examiner bond must be written to benefit the State of Texas for all judgments recovered against the examiner for any wrongful or illegal act committed by him or her in the course of administering a polygraph examination. The surety bond is a continuous obligation which may be canceled by the surety company upon thirty days written notice however current rules require the bond to continue for two years AFTER the surrender, cancellation or revocation of the license. The surety bond and application documents may be delivered to:
