Following similar requirements by the state, a Trinity County Commercial Cannabis Cultivation Tax Surety Bond is requested from all cultivation operators. The municipal code (Ordinance No.315-843) was amended in February of 2019, to allow legal marijuana cultivation in the county and a established protocols for obtaining a license to do so. Pursuant to the code the following commercial cannabis activities are permitted.
In addition to compliance with the California cannabis bond statutes, an applicant must file a Trinity County commercial cannabis cultivation tax bond in the amount equal to fifty cents ($0.50) per square foot of cumulative land under cultivation but not less than five thousand dollars ($5,000). The surety bond must run to the County of Trinity. The surety's obligation is to guarantee an operator's compliance with Trinity County Ordinance 3157, the "Commercial Cannabis Taxation Rule", and must remain in effect with the Treasurer-Tax Collector for the duration of the license. There are MANY license requirements with which a candidate must comply which include site plan preparation and approval, watershed/environmental protection measures, energy use considerations and more. We recommend a full review of those requirements on the County's website.
