A motor vehicle owner may avail him or herself of the Wyoming title bond option through a county clerk when an original title has been lost, destroyed or is considered defective. The Wyoming Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offers helpful instructions for preparing and filing an application for titling with a Wyoming certificate of title bond. Only vehicles with a current value of two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) require this procedure.
The Wyoming title bond must be executed by a surety company licensed to do business in the state and be issued in an amount (bond penalty) no less than twice the "retail value" of the vehicle. Questions can be directed to:

As part of the certificate of title bond underwriting process we must request some evidence that the applicant legally possesses the motor vehicle. Examples of "ownership evidence" can be a bill of sale, power of attorney, receipt, canceled check or money order, temporary registration/maker, affidavit of legal possession or endorsed copy of at title. Need a bill of sale format? See "What We Need From You" on this page for a template.
