In Utah an individual that applies for a license as a well driller must meet certain qualifications and post a Utah well driller bond with the Utah Division of Water Rights. The applicant must obtain a score of at least 70% on each of the written licensing examinations required and administered by the State Engineer, provide the well driller’s surety bond in the amount of $5,000, and provide documentation of at least two (2) years of full time prior water well drilling or pump installation/repair experience. The bond obligation guarantees faithful and honest compliance with Section 73-3-25, Utah Code Annotated, 1953 and the rules promulgated by the State Engineer pursuant thereto.
